Honda K24 Engines

 

K24 was introduced in 2002 and since then it is widely used in Honda CRV, Honda Accord and Acura TSX models. K24 is the biggest inline 4 engine Honda has ever produced.  K24 shares the same basic design and properties with K20. The differences are the deck height  and the piston size. To allow a longer stroke the deck height has been increased 19mm. This allowed engine to have a stroke of 99mm. Bore is 87mm, 1mm oversized compared to K20. These numbers sum up to a displacement of 2354cc which helps K24 engine to deliver much more torque compared to K20.

 

Honda K24A4 Engine

 

Most of the K24 versions have economy tuned i-VTEC. Compressions of these models vary between 9.6:1 to 10.5:1. and so the power outputs which are between 160 to 185 hp. K24A1, K24A4, K24A8, K24Z1, K24Z2, K24Z3, K24Z4, K24Z5 and K24Z6 are the engines with this configuration.

 

 

K24A2 and K24A3 are a little different then the engines listed above. These two are equipped with performance tuned i-VTEC which engages high-lift lobes at 6000RPM. K24A2 also has a larger throttle body and  intake valves along with a bigger exhaust pipe. Stronger connecting rods and a revied cranckshaft is also used to deal with higher engine speeds. With these improvments K24A2 can deliver 205 hp where K24A3 is delivering 190hp. This engine is used in JDM Honda Accor d Type-S and Acura TSX.
